Filipe Luís explains Ayrton Lucas absence for Flamengo | OneFootball

Filipe Luís has clarified why Ayrton Lucas has not featured in Flamengo’s last two Carioca matches, confirming the left-back is completing recovery from pubalgia.

According to Coluna Do Fla, against Vasco on Wednesday 21 Daniel Sales started at left-back, then made way at half-time for Alex Sandro. In Sunday’s Fla-Flu on 25, Alex Sandro began but was replaced 10 minutes into the second half by the makeshift Varela. Lucas was not named in either squad.

The coach said full medical details should come from club doctors, adding Lucas is in the final phase of treatment and should rejoin team training next week.

In 2025 Flamengo were well stocked on the left, with Alex Sandro, Ayrton Lucas and Viña. The Uruguayan even missed some sessions for lack of space, which led to a loan to River Plate (ARG).

Flamengo’s league push begins on Wednesday 28 at 21:30 Brasília time at Morumbi against São Paulo, before the Supercopa do Brasil meeting with Corinthians on Sunday 01.
