Eintracht beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0 to end their run of seven league games without a win. Brown (24’), Amaimouni-Echghouyab (34’) and Knauff (75’) were the scorers.
Three changes Albert Riera made three enforced changes for his first home match in charge. Aurèle Amenda, Jean-Mattéo Bahoya and Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab, making his full debut, replaced Arthur Theate and Farès Chaibi (both injured) and Oscar Højlund, who was suspended following his dismissal at Union Berlin.
Early opportunity for KalimuendoThe Eagles had the first chance after just four minutes, when Ritsu Doan played the ball into Arnaud Kalimuendo in the penalty area, but he couldn’t get enough on it to beat Moritz Nicolas in the Gladbach goal.
Another injury blow Riera was forced into a substitution in the 17th minute. Kalimuendo was unable to continue because of a shoulder problem, with Mo Dahoud taking the striker’s place. Shortly after that, the visitors, who were a threat on the counter, had their first real chance. Kota Takai got a shot away from a tight angle but Kaua Santos was equal to it at the near post.Brown breaks deadlockEintracht then took the lead with 25 minutes gone. Nathaniel Brown saw off Philipp Sander down the left side and passed to Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who cleverly laid it back to Brown in the penalty area. The 22-year-old kept his composure and side-footed the ball into the right corner from around 10 metres.
Amaimouni-Echghouyab doubles leadThe home faithful were celebrating a second goal after 34 minutes. Bahoya again provided the assist, setting up Amaimouni-Echghouyab, who cut in from the right and curled the ball beautifully into the far corner from the edge of the box. Gladbach had more of the game after that until the break, but Eintracht defended well to protect their 2-0 lead.Collins for Kristensen Nnamdi Collins came on for Rasmus Kristensen at the start of the second half, in which the visitors had the first chance. Haris Tabakovic got the better of Amenda in the air but Santos stopped the header from six metres with a strong save. His opposite number Nicolas then did the same from Amenda’s header from close range in the 50th minute.
Knauff settles itWith 75 minutes gone, Takai misjudged a long kick out from Santos and substitute Ansgar Knauff immediately identified the opportunity, first winning the footrace against the Japanese defender before rounding Nicolas and scoring the decisive third goal. Knauff missed a chance to add another goal two minutes later.Bundesliga debut for Arrhov Love Arrhov came on for Amaimouni-Echghouyab in the 79th minute, the 17-year-old Swede making his Bundesliga debut. When Santos made a good save from Wael Mohya’s long-range shot to preserve his clean sheet, it was game over at Deutsche Bank Park.
