Vitinha labelled the fans as “the main reason” Paris Saint-Germain wanted to win the UEFA Champions League trophy.
Speaking after les Parisiens thrashed Inter Milan in Munich on Saturday to claim their first UCL title, the Portuguese midfielder told TNT Sport that victory “means everything” to the players.
“The fans, I think they are the main reason that we wanted to win this trophy but we wanted to win this trophy for a lot of reasons. It’s our dream, it’s everyone’s dream and it’s my dream, and I’m glad we made it,” he said post-match.
PSG’s change of approach seems to have paid dividends, with the French club opting to swap their roster of star names for a well-rounded squad powered by youngsters – and Vitinha suggested that “says a lot” about the team’s success.
“This result is not by magic,” he explained. “We’re a very good team and we’re very, very happy that we did it like this.”
“Now we’re going to celebrate!”
