This Saturday (14), Flamengo defeated Botafogo 3-0 at Estádio Nilton Santos, in the sixth round of the 2026 Brasileirão.
With Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the Brazilian National Team, in the stadium, the Rubro-Negro had no trouble beating their state rival.
Before the 15th minute, Samuel Lino opened the scoring, with the help of a deflection off the defense.
With a high press, putting pressure on the Alvinegro's ball exit, Flamengo was barely troubled in defense.
In stoppage time of the first half, Léo Pereira took a perfect free kick from the edge of the box and extended the lead for the Rubro-Negro.
Still in the first half, referee Anderson Daronco resorted to VAR to send off Botafogo defender Alexander Barboza.
The Alvinegro defender went CRAZY with the decision and charged at the referee from Rio Grande do Sul, having to be restrained by his teammates.
After the break, Flamengo didn’t even give their rival a chance to try to recover.
Varela sent a low cross from the right, and striker Pedro appeared on the edge of the six-yard box to score the third.
With the victory secured, the Rubro-Negro slowed the pace, but kept total control of the match.
The Flamengo fans present at the stadium celebrated, taunting their opponent with a banner and the song "Ninguém cala, esse chororô".
With their third straight win in the Brasileirão, Flamengo reached 10 points and jumped to third place in the table (with a lower goal difference than Palmeiras and higher than Fluminense).
Botafogo, on the other hand, after suffering their third consecutive defeat in the championship, remained with three points and in 17th place, but could finish the round at the bottom of the table.
Glorioso returns to the field next Wednesday (18), when they visit Palmeiras at Allianz Parque.
The Rubro-Negro, meanwhile, will host Remo at Maracanã next Thursday (19).
