It may be Deja vu for some as Robertson took charge of Celtic’s opener last season against Killie. The experienced referee took charge on that day as Celtic won 4-0 in an opening day win that set the tone for the season to come.
In an update on Tuesday, the SFA confirmed that Robertson will take charge of the fixture. The 38-year-old took charge of Celtic’s last competitive outing, the Scottish Cup Final defeat in May. Although, on a more positive note, he was the whistleblower as Celtic clinched the league with an emphatic win over Dundee United at Tannadice.
David Roome and Craig Ferguson will run the line as Assistant Referees.
Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Greg Aitken is on VAR duties with Graeme Leslie assisting.
Celtic will be hoping that there are no controversies on MD1 of the new Premiership season. Willie Collum promised that aviation experts would be brought in to help his officials communicate under pressure but hopefully it doesn’t come to that.

It’s a wonderful tribute to David from his wife on behalf of his entire family that extends right out to his Celtic family. That’s you, me and everyone else reading this or anyone who has Celtic in their hearts.
