Flamengo choose luxury Algarve resort with two pitches for Portugal camp | OneFootball

Flamengo fly on Sunday for a mid-season camp in Portugal, opening in Lagos in the Algarve. The squad will stay and train at the seafront Cascade Wellness Resort during the first week.

According to Globo.com, the hotel sits atop the Ponta da Piedade cliffs, 90km from Faro Airport. Flamengo travel from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon, then a coach journey of about 2 hours 30 minutes to Lagos.

Room rates for this period range from R$ 2,500 to R$ 3,900, with some sea views, and apartments at around R$ 4,300. It is peak season in the Algarve.

The complex includes two natural-grass football pitches, on-site gym and neighbouring luxury accommodation. Clubs use it for pre-season or winter breaks because of privacy and comfort. Pitch access is reserved for professional and youth teams.

Facilities also include a full spa with hot tub, sauna and beauty and massage treatments. The property offers a hotel, apartments and standalone villas, split across five wings themed around Portuguese voyages in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America.

The second leg will be in Estoi, about 1 hour from Lagos. The club will stay near Estádio Algarve, training on an adjacent pitch as well as staging its matches there.

Fixtures are River Plate on 3 July, Lausanne on 8 July and Benfica on 11 July, all at Estádio Algarve. The squad return to Rio de Janeiro on 12 July, then complete the window without games at Ninho do Urubu.
