Flamengo have ruled out five players for Monday’s meeting with Madureira, the club said, with Bruno Henrique, Erick Pulgar, Jorginho, Léo Pereira and Saúl all in the medical department.

The update states a forward has pubalgia and is receiving daily treatment. Another player had muscle pain after facing Lanús, a scan showed no injury, and he will not play on medical advice.

A third player, having just returned from injury on Thursday, registered excessive load and has been withdrawn from the Madureira game. After more than 120 minutes against Lanús, a centre-back showed high fatigue levels, will not be selected and will train at CT George Helal on matchday.

Another squad member is progressing after surgery on his left heel and no longer needs immobilisation.

Four of the five also featured on Thursday 26 against Lanús in the Recopa Sul-Americana final, which Flamengo lost. Léo Pereira played the 90 minutes and was limping during extra time.

Flamengo meet Madureira in the second leg of the Campeonato Carioca semi-final, carrying a three-goal advantage.
