Flamengo consider first-team involvement amid risk of Carioca relegation quadrangular

Flamengo sit bottom of the Campeonato Carioca after three matches and are considering using first-team players in upcoming state fixtures.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the club believes entering the relegation quadrangular for the four worst sides would hurt institutional planning because it would mean extra state games.

If they reach the finals, they would play four more times. If they have to contest the quadrangular to avoid relegation, it would be six, a difference of two matches.

Staffing would depend on selection. Bruno Pivetti stays on the touchline if it remains the under-20s, while Filipe Luís leads the team if any first-team player is named.

Amid that uncertainty, Flamengo are scheduled to face Vasco on Wednesday, 21, at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
