Flamengo councillors seek transparency, urge review of board autonomy after R$33.8m deficit | OneFootball

Flamengo face internal pressure as 12 councillors lodged documents demanding greater transparency after the club recorded a R$33.8m deficit for the first half of the year.

According to Globo.com, the submissions were sent to the Deliberative and Fiscal councils, calling for the return of annual budget publication and asking the bodies to assess suspending the board’s autonomy to sign agreements, loans and revenue advances, as permitted by Article 146.

The group accuses Deliberative Council president Ricardo Lomba of failing to oversee budget execution in 2025 and wants him to present monitoring reports for the first half of 2026 detailing budget lines alongside the realised deficit. They also ask Fiscal Council president Paulo Roberto Gomes to summon the board to deliver the 2026 budget within 48 hours.

The documents cite joint liability provisions in Article 69 for presidents and vice-presidents in cases of losses caused by negligent conduct. They were signed by Wallim Vasconcellos and 11 other councillors. The club and the named officials did not comment.

In its first-half balance, Flamengo attributed the negative result largely to R$192.4m in amortisation of players’ economic rights, including signings from the January window, describing the deficit as a natural trade-off for investment. It added that, excluding player trading and the 2025 Club World Cup, recurring performance over the period was the strongest in five years.
