Flamengo are pushing to finalise signings before the Copa Libertadores round of 16 registration cut-off, which falls 72 hours before the Cruzeiro opener.
According to Coluna Do Fla, CONMEBOL’s rules set the final deadline for submitting changes at 18:00 on Saturday 08, Paraguay time, and allow up to five alterations to the original group-stage list.
Talks on targets requested by Leonardo Jardim are being accelerated, though the club are proceeding cautiously to avoid bidding wars in an international market.
From the initial 50-player list for the group phase, several have left through transfers or contract expiries. Confirmed exits include Ryan Roberto and Da Mata, creating room to replenish specific roles.
Priority positions are a creative midfielder, a quick winger and a reliable centre-forward, with recruitment kept within the planned budget.
The club are in negotiations for Thiago Almada of Atlético de Madrid, while River Plate are also interested. Flamengo do not plan to join any auction and are awaiting the player’s decision.
Coaching staff are assessing internal options to fill recent vacancies. The five permitted additions will be available for the Cruzeiro ties on 12 and 19 August.
In the meantime, the first team are working daily at CT Ninho do Urubu to address defensive and attacking issues during a free week for tactical work. Fans await official announcements before the deadline closes.
