Reigning Brasileirão champions Flamengo arrived in São Paulo on Tuesday afternoon after a weather scare, ahead of their first-round meeting with São Paulo at Morumbi.
The club said in a statement that at 16:32 Brasília time the team plane was holding over São José dos Campos because Guarulhos airport was closed due to rain and wind, with no estimated arrival time. Landing clearance came two minutes later.
The squad are now based in the state capital as they begin their bid for a 10th league title.
The starting XI will be settled on matchday morning. Head coach Filipe Luís is preparing season debuts for Arrascaeta and Jorginho, with both included in a matchday squad for the first time in 2026.
São Paulo face Flamengo at 21:30 Brasília time on Wednesday 28 at Morumbi. The match will be broadcast free-to-air by Rede Globo, with GE TV and SporTV also showing the game.
