Flamengo have made a third offer for Kaio Jorge, increasing their bid to more than 30 million euros (R$ 188 million) as they try to persuade Cruzeiro to sell. The offer was formalised on Thursday.
UOL first reported the latest approach. Cruzeiro had ended talks with Flamengo and said they would only sell for 50 million euros (R$ 314 million).
Flamengo initially offered less than 30 million euros, then 24 million euros (R$ 150 million) plus Everton Cebolinha, valuing him at 8 million euros (R$ 50 million). Both proposals were rejected.
Cruzeiro were open to Flamengo adding other players, but insisted the total package must reach 50 million euros, which is not currently on the table. Flamengo president Bap has been dealing directly with Pedro Lourenço, owner of the SAF celeste.
Flamengo have also approached the player, with Kaio Jorge speaking to head coach Filipe Luís. That contact displeased Raposa, complicating negotiations.
The Rio club still consider Kaio Jorge their plan A and have stepped up the pursuit. The striker’s representatives met Cruzeiro executives in Belo Horizonte on Thursday morning.
