Flamengo’s museum reopens on Tuesday at the club’s Gávea headquarters, unveiling a temporary exhibition in honour of Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo and introducing a new interactive visitor experience.
According to Globo.com, the show, titled "Zagallo é Mengo: tem treze letras", runs from 14 to 31 July 2026, daily from 9:00 to 18:00 at Av. Borges de Medeiros, 997, Lagoa. Tickets are available via museuflamengo.com or at the museum box office.
The venue had been shut for refurbishment since 1 February. Structural reinforcement was required after the second floor was leased to a gym chain.
A first-of-its-kind activation invites visitors to step into a player’s role in decisive moments, such as taking a penalty.
The exhibition charts Zagallo’s path from his first professional goal, specially narrated for the display by broadcaster Luiz Penido, to his recognition as a world football icon and a central figure in Flamengo’s story.
It is organised into three strands, "Zagallo é Gávea", "Zagallo é Mundo" and "Zagallo é Lenda". Each has 13 letters, a number closely associated with the Velho Lobo’s career.
