Flamengo near million-dollar sale of Iago to Orlando City | OneFootball

Flamengo are working to finalise the million-dollar sale of centre-back Iago to Orlando City in the United States, with paperwork being completed.

According to GE, the clubs have an agreement at 1.4 million dollars, about R$ 7.3 million at current rates. Both sides are dealing with bureaucratic details to seal the deal.

Flamengo own 60% of the defender’s economic rights, with Volta Redonda holding the remaining 40%. Flamengo will receive about R$ 4 million and will retain a sell-on percentage.

Iago is a serial winner in the club’s academy, captaining the under-20s in recent seasons and scoring notable goals. He was pivotal in the 2025 age-group Club World Cup win over Barcelona at the Maracanã.

Having aged out of the under-20s, he has yet to enjoy a run under Filipe Luís in the senior side. His contract expires in December this year and he is close to leaving.

Flamengo face Internacional on Wednesday 04 in the second round of the Brasileirão at the Maracanã, with kick-off at 19:00 Brasília time.
