Flamengo step up for the Brasileirão opener at São Paulo on Wednesday, with Filipe Luís set to settle his XI and Lucas Paquetá edging closer to a return.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the match is at Morumbis on Wednesday 28, and Filipe Luís will finalise his starters in a Tuesday morning session. The outlet adds that West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá is expected to arrive in Rio on Thursday 29 to sign.
The initial likely line-up is Rossi, Varela, Vitão, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro, Jorginho, Pulgar, Luiz Araújo, Arrascaeta, Samuel Lino and Pedro. The final call will follow Tuesday morning’s work.
Flamengo and West Ham have agreed a fee of 41.25 million euros, 256 million reais at current rates. Part would be paid up front, with the remainder in instalments over up to 18 months.
In the Carioca, Flamengo’s position remains complicated but has improved. With two round-four games played on Monday 26, the club stayed alive in the competition. At Estádio Laranjão, Nova Iguaçu drew 2-2 with Volta Redonda, opening only a one-point gap over Flamengo.
