Flamengo’s World Cup-laden squad has surged in value, yet the club plan to keep the core intact next window. Only non-essential players would be allowed to go.

According to Globo.com, sales are needed to raise funds after heavy recent outlay, notably on Lucas Paquetá, and a lack of significant departures.

Any starter leaving would force a replacement search, and interest could build around those in form. Léo Pereira, a 2025 standout, earned a late World Cup call-up. Among other Brazil squad names, Danilo has not decided on retirement, Alex Sandro will renew for one year, and Paquetá is not leaving.

Carrascal and Plata could move depending on their World Cup shop window. Carrascal is out of favour but cost €12 million, R$ 77 million, last year, and may depart if a good offer appears. Plata overcame a shaky start under Jardim and is now a starter.

Léo Ortiz, on Carlo Ancelotti’s preliminary list, has been tracked by foreign clubs since last year and his camp expect enquiries. Midfielder Evertton Araújo could fetch a sizeable fee given his age, but Flamengo do not intend to sell now. Scouts from Europe have watched him and he became a starter in 2026.

Recruitment will focus on young, lower-cost options in Brazil and South America, prioritising technical quality, pace and fitness. Targets are preferably under 26. Early needs are a centre-forward to push Pedro, an attacking midfielder to back up Arrascaeta, plus left-back and a holding midfielder.
