Flamengo ‘to sign’ São Paulo midfielder Marcos Antônio

According to Os Donos da Bola, Flamengo have reached an agreement to sign São Paulo midfielder Marcos Antônio, with talks described as virtually complete for the next transfer window.

Flamengo moved for the 25-year-old in February, proposing a loan until the end of the season with a 4.2 million euros obligation to buy, valued at R$ 25.5 million at the time, but São Paulo rejected it.

In March, São Paulo announced Marcos Antônio’s contract renewal through to December 2030. The midfielder has a 100 million euros release clause, around R$ 576.3 million at current rates.

For now, attention turns to the pitch.

Flamengo visit Vitória on Thursday 14 at 21:30 Brasília time for the Copa do Brasil fifth-round second leg.
