Flamengo have decided to take legal action against former Fla E-Sports operator Agência MDL Assessoramento Ltda, alleging non-payment and unauthorised use of the club’s brand, according to Coluna Do Fla.
The club is seeking more than R$ 800,000. It says the agency kept using the brand after the split.
In 2023 the parties agreed a 30-month contract for MDL to manage Flamengo’s gaming arm. The deal included a R$ 100,000 upfront fee and a R$ 530,000 minimum guarantee.
With no funds received, Flamengo are also claiming a R$ 200,000 contractual penalty. The case is not limited to financial demands.
The club has asked a court for an urgent injunction to regain control of the @flaesports accounts on Instagram and X, formerly Twitter.
Fla E-Sports was founded in 2017 to compete in titles such as League of Legends, Free Fire and Valorant. The division has partnered with Redragon, a global peripherals brand. In 2019 Flamengo won the Brazilian League of Legends championship in a packed arena in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
