Flamengo’s claim for R$42.7m against Gerson, filed after he left in mid 2025 to join Zenit, has yet to progress in court, according to O Globo.

On 11 March, Flamengo beat Cruzeiro 2-0 at the Maracanã, Pedro and Carrascal scoring, as Gerson faced his former club and was jeered throughout.

The 25th Civil Court of Rio de Janeiro has been notified that court officers have not been able to serve papers on his father and agent Marcão. Officials made three visits in March to a condominium in Barra da Tijuca linked to him without success. In February they went to the listed headquarters of FGM Sports Ltda., a coworking office without a physical space for the company.

Gerson was originally contracted until 2027. After public comments from Marcão pressing for a pay rise and claiming his son earned among the lowest wages of the starters, Flamengo extended the deal to 2030 with improved terms and a reduced release clause.

With that clause lowered, Zenit paid and secured his release without negotiation. The revised agreement also included an indemnity clause for unilateral termination, and the club is seeking compensation from the player’s representation, led by Marcão Santos.
