Barcelona continued their preparations for Sunday’s La Liga match against local rivals Girona away at Estadi Montilivi.

The Blaugrana will go into the game with the aim of continuing their 100% start to the season and making it five wins in five.

And, they could have a new face in the squad for the game with Ansu Fati returning to full training this week and being in a position to make his comeback.

However, with Fermin Lopez injured on international duty and the likes of Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong, and Marc Bernal unavailable, manager Hansi Flick once again called up a few players from the youth-talent pool to first-team training today.

Three starlets train with the seniors

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Unai Hernandez, Andres Cuenca, and Diego Kochen were the three talents from the Barça Atletic squad that were called up to train with the senior team by manager Flick.

Unai has become a regular feature in first-team training in recent weeks, especially since the injuries in the midfield department.

The 19-year-old, who is one of the captains of Barça Atletic this season, is a versatile player who can operate as an interior, on the left flank, or as a No. 10, making him a handy option to have available.

Meanwhile, Cuenca’s presence in training could be chalked down to the possible absence of Sergi Dominguez, who has been in the first-team dynamics this season, but suffered a minor injury while with Barça Atletic last week.

Alexis Olmedo had been called up to train yesterday as possible cover and today it is the turn of Cuenca.

Kochen, meanwhile, has been the starting goalkeeper for Barça Atletic this term, featuring in the first two league games. But he missed their last match due to international commitment and trained with the first team today.

It will be interesting to see if any of them make the squad list for the short trip to Montilivi this weekend.
