Barcelona kicked off the 2025/26 La Liga campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win at Son Moix against Mallorca.
Goals from Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal sealed all three points, though red cards shown to Mallorca’s Manu Morlanes and Vedat Muriqi had played a key role in the proceedings.
Although the scoreline may suggest otherwise, Barcelona actually looked quite off, especially after the two red cards, which forced them to take the foot off the gas pedal.
Speaking to the media after the game, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick admitted he wasn’t entirely happy with the team’s performance.
“It’s positive to start with three points, but I can’t say I’m completely satisfied. With two more men, we should have controlled the game more and created more chances,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
Flick went on to allude to the same point of Barcelona looking careless after two red cards.
“I didn’t like the game. After a 2-0 deficit and two red cards, I think the team played at 50 percent, and I didn’t like it.
“We can do better. Playing at 50 or 60 percent against nine players isn’t possible. We have to play faster. We have to improve some situations,” he added.
Flick also talked about Ferran Torres’ goal, which caused quite the controversy as Mallorca felt the goal shouldn’t have been allowed due to Antonio Raillo being on the ground.

“I’m telling the team that we have to play until the referee stops the game. It’s a referee’s decision and we have to accept it,” he said.
The Barcelona coach went on to heap praise on Lamine Yamal as well for his electric performance against Mallorca.
“The important thing is that he plays at this high level. He’s special, and everyone looks up to him. What I see is that he’s very motivated,” he said.
Finally, Flick talked about Barcelona’s debutants, Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford. He also talked about youngster Jofre Torrents.
“Joan had a great game. He can continue like this,” Flick said about the goalkeeper. As for Rashford, the coach added, “It wasn’t good for him because there was no space.”
When asked about Torrents, who has been courted by Real Betis recently, Flick concluded, “It wasn’t a good part for him because there was no space.”
