Discontent at the Santiago Bernabeu this season has focused on the presidential box rather than Alvaro Arbeloa, and repercussions could follow. Real Madrid are already seeking a summer replacement for Arbeloa, with Maximiliano Allegri, Unai Emery and Mauricio Pochettino linked.
According to ESPN, a major shake-up in the executive offices is being weighed, and Head Scout Juni Calafat could face the sack.
The Brazilian has spent 12 years at the club and became Head Scout in 2017. The 53-year-old is highly regarded after helping secure Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes, and is among the few with Perez’s ear on transfers.
The report says more recent additions, including Franco Mastantuono, Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, have put his judgement under scrutiny. If Madrid end a second straight season without silverware, his relationship with Perez might not be enough to keep him.
Calafat is part of a small recruitment group, although Perez keeps the final and most significant say on signings. General Manager Jose Angel Sanchez also influences arrivals.
Santiago Solari holds the sporting director title, but his impact on transfer decisions is thought to be much smaller.
