The identity of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez’s mystery big-money transfer target has on Friday been confirmed by a number of reliable sources.
The player in the sights of the Spaniard with a view to next season? Michael Olise.
Pérez, for those who may have missed it, set the world of football alight late on Thursday evening. Speaking during an interview with Horizonte (as cited by Fabrizio Romano), the 79-year-old was drawn on his summer plans at the Bernabéu.
And as part of his ongoing campaign to be re-elected as Real Madrid president, Pérez did not hesitate in revealing:
“I will send a €150m bid on Tuesday for a top player from a Champions League team”.
Pressed on whether this planned offer was set to land on the desks at Bayern Munich for Michael Olise, the Spanish patron assured:
“The €150m bid will not be for Michael Olise. Great player but it’s not him”.
As alluded to above, though, the understanding across Europe on Friday is that, in fact, the French international is the mystery target in Madrid.
As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano, citing the likes of Jason Burt and José Félix Díaz:
‘Florentino Pérez plans to launch €150m official bid on Tuesday for Michael Olise. Despite denying his name live, the main star in president’s mind is Olise.’
