Phil Foden’s brace against Borussia Dortmund took him to 20 goals in the Champions League.
The 25-year-old did so in just his 64th appearance in Europe’s elite club competition.
It means he’s surpassed some of greatest names in the game’s history, while drawing level with several other significant figures.
Amongst the stellar names who netted 19 times in the European Cup or the Champions League, there’s Pep Guardiola’s mentor Johan Cruyff.
Fellow Dutch icon Marco van Basten also scored 19 times, as well as the likes of former Manchester United and Newcastle United man Andy Cole and Borussia Dortmund’s Jan Koller.
Averaging just shy of a goal every three matches at the very highest level is testament to the midfielder’s knack in front of goal, especially when you consider he started playing in the competition as a 17-year-old.

With hopefully plenty more to come, he’s now tied with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Gareth Bale, Luis Enrique, Fernando Torres, Romario, Hulk, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Anelka and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on 20.
He’ll now have his sights set on climbing the rankings over the coming years.
Meanwhile, Erling Haaland’s strike took him to 54 in just 52 appearances in the Champions League.
That puts him tenth on the list, just three behind ninth placed Thomas Muller and the only man in the top 50 to do so at better than a rate of a goal per game.
Foden is also only the fifth man to score 20 times in the top level European competition for City, after Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Haaland.
