Lyon want to keep Real Madrid loanee Endrick beyond this season after his fast start and four goal contributions in early matches.

Endrick makes instant impact at Lyon

Reports on Monday revealed new developments in the situation of Endrick, the Real Madrid striker currently on loan at Olympique Lyon.

Endrick left Real Madrid during the January winter transfer window in search of regular playing time.

The 19 year-old has made brilliant start in France, already scoring four goal in three appearances, quickly becoming one of Lyon’s key attacking players.

Fonseca wants loan extended until 2027

According to ESPN, Lyon head coach Paulo Fonseca is extremely impressed with Endrick’s early performances and has asked the club to begin talks with Real Madrid about extending the loan deal.

The current agreement runs only until the end of the season but Fonseca is reportedly hoping Endrick can remain at the club until the end of the 2026 /27 campaign.

Lyon understand such request will not be easy. Real Madrid still see Endrick as part of their long term plans and permanent transfer is viewed as highly unlikely.

Strong performances raise hopes

Endrick quickly delivered on the pitch since arriving at Parc OL.

He provided assist in 2-1 win over Brest, then followed it with hat-trick in Lyon’s 5-2 victory against Metz.

After scoring first hat-trick of his career, Endrick said he was very happy and described the moment as one of the most important days in his life.

He also explained that Ligue 1 is strong and physical and that he feels playing in France is helping him grow.

The young forward added that moving to Lyon was not mistake especially in year when he hopes to secure place in Brazil’s squad for the next World Cup.

Limited chances at Real Madrid

Endrick decided to leave Madrid after struggling for minutes in first half of the season.

With players such as Kylian Mbappe & Gonzalo Garcia competing for the striker role, opportunities were limited.

The Brazilian hopes that regular matches at Lyon will help him develop and strengthen his chances of being selected by Brazil for the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will take place in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
