Norwich City supporters protested outside the directors entrance post-match to voice their frustrations at Ben Knapper and Liam Manning.

Footage of protests outside the directors entrance at Carrow Road has emerged on social media, as Norwich City were defeated 2-0 at home by Hull City on Saturday, leaving them four points adrift from safety in the Championship.

The start of the new Championship season has been nothing short of a horror show for the Norfolk-based side, with new manager Liam Manning mustering just two wins in the opening 13 league matches, which has them sat 23rd.

It was a seventh consecutive home loss in all competitions for the Canaries on Saturday afternoon, as Hull came to town and turned them over with ease, which led to supporters voicing their disgust with those in power at the club.

Not only was head coach Manning in the crosshairs of protestors, but sporting director Ben Knapper was also a target of frustration, with supporters gathering outside the directors entrance to chant 'we want Knapper out'.

This comes just days after Norwich owner Mark Attansio publicly backed Manning on BBC Radio Norfolk's Canary Call phone-in, and now the pressure on the head coach has ramped up once again.

The situation that Norwich find themselves in is precarious, sitting second from bottom of the Championship table, only above Sheffield Wednesday, who were served a 12-point deduction for entering administration.

The day started with high tensions, as fans protested pre-match about the plans to redevelop their home stadium, which has since been put on hold, but would've seen over 3,000 season ticket holders relocated to new seats.

Things got even more toxic at Carrow Road on Saturday though, as the Canaries were brushed aside by Hull, with goals from Joe Gelhardt and Darko Gyabi condemning them to a seventh successive defeat on home soil.

During the match, there were plenty of chants from the stands aimed at Knapper and Manning, as well as the home fans throwing tennis balls onto the pitch, which caused the match to be briefly held up.

The anger didn't end at the final whistle either, as footage emerged on social media of a large group of Norwich supporters gathered outside the directors entrance post-match, with chants of 'we want Knapper out' and 'we want Manning out', as well as 'sack the board' being bellowed.

Flares were also let off outside the directors entrance, and it reportedly took over two hours for the situation to be fully diffused.

Liam Manning 'hurting' at the current state of Norwich City

After the match, Norwich boss Manning apologised to the angry Norwich supporters, and took accountability for the performance on the pitch.

He told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I apologise to the fans for that. It's not good from me.

"I'm hurting, it's not the right thing to do, and I apologise to everyone for that.

"Ultimately, you're tired of saying the same things - I'm scratching my head.

"I reflect on my performance first, and you look at the first half, and you have to be ahead. We just shoot ourselves in the foot by giving away, yet again, a horrific goal.

"It's the same message: you keep fighting. Clearly, there's a lot that needs to change. We have to look in-house and change."

Both Manning and Knapper were given the public vote of confidence by owner Attansio on Wednesday, but with no end to the troubling times in sight, the American could be forced into a U-turn on his decision sooner rather than later, if things on the pitch don't pick up.
