Football Today’s Premier League Team of the Week for Matchday 22 features several players who are often overlooked when accolades are being handed out.

Bournemouth are well-represented in the team, while a Brighton & Hove Albion star also gets a shout-out after a stellar performance at Manchester United.

Goalkeeper – Emmanuel Martinez (Aston Villa)

Martinez conceded two goals at Emirates Stadium but still played a pivotal role as Villa once again blew a hole in Arsenal’s title hopes.

Defence – Matty Cash (Aston Villa)

Cash played a key role as Villa dug deep to recover from a two-goal deficit to claim a 2-2 draw. Set up Ollie Watkins for the equaliser.

Defence – Ilya Zabarnyi (Bournemouth)

Zabarnyi has formed a strong defensive partnership at Bournemouth alongside Dean Huijsen. He was rock solid as the Cherries walloped Newcastle United.

Defender – Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth)

Bournemouth paid Juventus £12.6m to sign Huijsen last summer. The 19-year-old is undoubtedly worth a lot more than that now.

Defender – Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)

Kerkez crowned a superb all-round performance with Bournemouth’s fourth goal at St James’ Park. They will find it hard to keep him this summer.

Midfield – Mateo Kovacic (Manchester City)

Kovacic pulled the strings in midfield as Manchester City ran riot at Ipswich Town. He scored the second goal and set up James McAtee to complete a 6-0 rout.

Midfield – Youri Tielemans (Aston Villa)

Tielemans triggered Villa’s fightback with their first goal and was unlucky not to score again with a fine effort which hit the post.

Midfield – Yankuba Minteh (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Minteh’s early goal set Brighton on their way to victory at Man United. He caused endless problems for the home team’s defence.

Forward – Phil Foden (Manchester City)

Foden has not been at his best this season but stepped things up with two goals and an assist as City romped to victory at Ipswich.

Forward – Justin Kluivert (Bournemouth)

Kluivert produced a devastating display at Newcastle, netting a hat-trick to strengthen Bournemouth’s hopes of qualifying for Europe.

Forward – Jean-Phillipe Mateta (Crystal Palace)

Mateta gave West Ham United a torrid time. He opened the scoring for Palace and drew two fouls from Konstantinos Mavropanos, which resulted in his dismissal.
