Founded in 1976 by Terry O’Donnell and Stewart Donnelly to take Celtic supporters from Perth and the surrounding areas to Celtic Park, the club used Glenisla coaches from Alyth that picked up members from Alyth, Blairgowrie, and Coupar Angus before picking them up in Perth.

A 1980 trip to the Bernabeu to play Real Madrid

In 1976–77, the club organised two buses to leave Perth to go to the League Cup final at Hampden. The CSC also ran buses to European away games and, in 1980, a trip to the Bernabeu to play Real Madrid.

When the club was formed, it was also decided to form a flute band. This was a successful band that travelled miles to play against other bands. The original banner cannot be found, but they still have the drum.

For seasons 82–83, Owen O’Donnell took over as president, before Gary McNamara was elected for seasons 83–84. Gary remained president for over fifteen years, during which time it was decided to change the name to Perth CSC.

Pierre van Hooijdonk and Jackie McNamara

Throughout this time, there were many successful player of the year dances, which were often attended by their chosen player of the year, most notably in seasons 95–96, when Pierre van Hooijdonk and Jackie McNamara were voted player of the year and young player of the year, respectively, and both attended the end-of-season dance at McDiarmid Park.

Season 2000-01 saw Paul Lambert voted player of the year, and he also came to pick up his award in person at the end-of-year dance. The start of season 99-00 saw Denis Boner elected president, which he did for three years before stepping down. Season 03-04 saw Maureen Cameron elected president, and at the start of season 04-05, it was decided to revert back to the original name of the club: John F. Kennedy CSC Perth.
