Wrexham should target a move for Leeds United striker Joel Piroe rather than Southampton ace Adam Armstrong.
Wrexham have shown that they are intent on bringing a top-quality striker to the Racecourse Ground before the transfer window closes this Monday.
The Red Dragons took another step towards clinching a Championship play-off place when they beat Queens Park Rangers in West London last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Wrexham have eyed a move for £19million-rated teenage striker Sidiki Cherif, who plies his trade for French Ligue 1 outfit Angers, in what would be a significant statement of intent showed by the North Wales outfit.
Phil Parkinson's men are also interested in Southampton forward Adam Armstrong as a fall-back option to Cherif, with the Saints attacker having proven his goal-scoring prowess in the Championship in recent seasons.

Wrexham's advances for both Cherif and Armstrong has made one thing clear - it proves how keen Parkinson is to add a new goalscorer to his ranks ahead of the business end of the campaign.
The Southampton man has showed his clinical tendencies in the Championship once again this season, notching 11 goals and four assists in 29 league appearances.
However, Leeds United ace Joel Piroe could be an even better option for the Red Dragons, having clinched the second-tier golden boot last term, firing the Whites to the Premier League in the process.
Piroe has suffered a lack of game time for Daniel Farke's side this season, though, thanks to Dominic Calvert-Lewin's impressive performances and the presence of former Wolfsburg man Lukas Nmecha.
Furthermore, as reported by BBC Sport, Wolves rejected a £33m bid from Leeds for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, showing that the Whites are keen to add even more depth to their attacking ranks.
Having seen an initial bid for Strand Larsen rejected, the Elland Road club would likely be happy to move Piroe on to help fund their move for the Wolves men, especially with the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules in mind.
Wrexham must capitalise on that eventuality and make their move for the Dutchman, who has proven himself as one of the best Championship strikers in recent seasons, alongside Armstrong.
Piroe was not only prolific for last season's title winners, Leeds, but also showed his attacking class while plying his trade for his old club, Swansea City.
The Swans finished just 15th in the Championship back in 2021/22, but the 26-year-old did not let that affect his individual performances, scoring 22 league goals.
He then went on to notch 19 second-tier goals for Swansea the following season, prompting Farke's side to sign the ace in August 2023.
Additionally, Piroe is over two years younger than Armstrong, making him a more worthwhile investment for Wrexham than that of the Southampton man, who turns 29 in February.
The former Netherlands international also brings versatility to the table, as he can operate in an attacking midfield role, as seen at Leeds - that could be beneficial for Wrexham as he could play alongside Nathan Broadhead in the duel number 10 role behind Kieffer Moore.

The Red Dragons' unwavering ambition has been shown by the fact that they have already clinched consecutive promotions from the National League to the Championship, and have a serious chance of earning a place in next season's Premier League via the play-offs.
Furthermore, Wrexham are set for a £48m investment from Atletico Madrid's majority shareholders, Apollo Sports Capital, which can help them land high-profile transfers for top performers such as Piroe, should they go after him.
Piroe's previous exploits in the second tier for both Leeds and Swansea show that he can fire Parkinson's men to the Premier League, and could be an even better option than Armstrong and the unproven Cherif, despite his obvious potential and upside.
Whilst Piroe isn't said to be keen on a Championship move right now, things can change very quickly in the volatile world of football transfers, and before the window slams shut on February 2, there's every chance the Dutchman could be convinced that the best thing for his future is a move away from Elland Road.
