An out-of-favour member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was the first member of Hansi Flick’s squad to report for pre-season training on Sunday.

The player in question? Andreas Christensen.

Stopper Christensen, for his part, is fresh off what was an altogether difficult term in Catalunya’s capital in 2024/25.

Owing to a pair of long-term injury problems, the Dane took to the pitch in a competitive setting on just six occasions.

Such woes have given rise to mounting speculation surrounding his future of late, amid suggestions that Christensen could be pushed out if an enticing offer arrives for his signature.

If the former Chelsea man’s actions across the week to date are anything to go by, however, then he evidently has not yet given up hope of reviving his Barcelona career.

After doing similarly twice earlier this week, Christensen was the first Blaugrana player to arrive at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper yet again on Sunday morning.

A clear show of commitment and intent on the part of the 29-year-old.
