Former Barcelona winger swaps Porto for Utrecht | OneFootball

Utrecht have announced the signing of former Barcelona winger Angel Alarcon from Porto. The 21-year-old leaves Porto to join Utrecht on loan, with the Dutch side having an option to buy the former Barcelona academy product at the end of the season.

Alarcon came through at Barcelona and made his first team debut in 2023. He only played five times for the senior side, with the majority of his career in Barcelona being spent with the second team. In 2024 he left Barcelona to join Porto. Once again, he played most of his football with Porto in the sides second team. During the 2025/2026 season he was promoted to the first team and has made six appearances for the side. However, he has only played 57 minutes in the league for Porto.

Utrecht will be hoping that the promise he showed to come through at Barcelona will help them turn their season around. Ron Jans has already stated he will not resign from his position as head coach despite the sides poor form in the Eredivisie and Europe this season.
