Former Celtic loanee Tomáš Čvančara faces an uncertain future at Borussia Mönchengladbach after club officials admitted there has been no concrete interest in signing the striker this summer.

The Czech international endured a disappointing spell at the Hoops, scoring twice in the Premiership before a torn adductor muscle brought his loan stint to a premature end in April, and he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

Čvančara has also attracted criticism from sections of the Gladbach support after sharing a social media post from a poolside in Prague while still recovering from injury.

Despite arriving in Germany in a deal worth around £9 million and remaining under contract for another two seasons, the 24-year-old has slipped down the attacking pecking order.

Sporting director Rouven Schröder admitted via Glasgow Times: “There has been no offers or interest in Tomas during the transfer window.”

Head coach Eugen Polanski also made clear the striker has a fight on his hands for game time, saying: “Tomas has to be realistic and understand we have enough players in his position.”

Čvančara is currently behind Tim Kleindienst, Isac Lidberg, Shuto Machino and Nathan Ngoumou in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s striker list, with reports in Germany suggesting a loan move to Slavia Prague could emerge before the transfer window closes.
