Former Guarani coach Mozart believes Benfica midfielder Richard Ríos has the tools to take the next step, arguing a summer move to Italy would benefit him.
"He came through Flamengo’s academy and was almost unknown to us. We watched some videos and decided to back him. At first he did not play, then he earned his place and stayed in the team," he said, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
"He is a serious worker and an excellent lad. If Napoli sign him, they make a great signing."
Napoli are believed to have opened exploratory contacts to understand Benfica’s conditions to release the Colombian midfielder.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato reports that Inter de Milão are also monitoring the number 20.
Ríos has impressed in recent outings for Benfica, contributing two goals and two assists across matches against Arouca, Vitória de Guimarães and Casa Pia.
This season he has played 40 competitive games for Benfica, 22 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 12 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça, totalling 3,200 minutes with five goals and five assists. He is valued at 22 million euros.
