Durham have completed the signing of former Everton and Liverpool goalkeeper Rylee Foster on a free transfer.

The Wildcats announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 26-year-old joins Durham after leaving former club Everton earlier this month.

Foster is a former Canadian youth international goalkeeper who was on the fringes of the senior squad prior to being involved in a road traffic accident in October 2021. The accident saw the player sidelined for almost two years and there were doubts over whether she could play professional football ever again.

Foster started her senior club career with Liverpool in 2020 and she put in some impressive performances for The Reds when given the opportunity to play. The player was an important member of the club’s goalkeeping union prior to her accident and was very much seen as one for the future.

After overcoming her injury and proving her fitness, Foster moved to New Zealand in summer 2023 where she turned out for Wellington Pheonix. She made 19 Ninja A-League Women appearances in what was a successful one-year spell with the club.

Foster joined Everton on a short-term deal earlier this season and provided some competition for the first-choice goalkeeping jersey. She will now be hoping to get some games under her belt with Durham.

Foster is Durham’s second signing of the January transfer window.
