Inter face Napoli at San Siro on Sunday and former Nerazzurri player Daniele Adani believes his old club have a major chance to make a decisive statement in the title race.

According to Adani speaking on Viva El Futbol, Inter have reached “a first opportunity to create separation” and he expects Chivu’s team to take the initiative.

“I expect an Inter as the protagonist,” he said, arguing the match could confirm “what we’ve always said about the coach, the strength of the team, and the evolution of the build-up.”

Adani added that Inter have changed “four out of ten” outfield players and “haven’t even noticed.”

He praised Chivu’s approach and flexibility. “He often agrees with me,” Adani said, noting the coach’s message that “you have to know how to play the match that’s required.”

He also pointed to a recurring flaw Inter must manage. “Inter always have those 10 to 20 minutes where they compromise the match,” he said.

Although he feels they have improved at “fighting” without losing their attacking edge.

Adani believes Inter finally have the squad conditions to strike in a direct clash. He cited forwards in form, strong depth, and “one of the best Lautaro ever.”

But he warned that Conte is “one of the best coaches in the world” and “probably the best in Italy.”

Adani stressed Conte is built for these challenges and already “playing” the match in his preparation.

The turning point, he insisted, is the table. “If Inter go seven points clear, there’s no longer a direct clash to close the gap,” Adani said.

He added that “there aren’t good signs” regarding Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne.

“This match, with one result, is almost decisive,” he concluded.

He finished by praising Chivu’s impact at Inter.

“He stands out because he analyses himself,” Adani said, claiming Inter came out of the Champions League “battered” and “abandoned by the previous coach.”

Indeed, before Chivu arrived and “gave to Inter.”
