Former Inter and Italy defender Giuseppe Bergomi has claimed Juventus and Napoli are “prime candidates” to win the Scudetto this season, as he says the two clubs are “more ready to compete immediately” than the Nerazzurri, Milan and Roma.
Speaking in an interview with Radio CRC, with quotes via CalcioMercato, Bergomi said that “Inter, Milan and Roma start behind” Juventus and Napoli but added that those sides “can be a real nuisance.”

Bergomi played 517 times for Inter in Serie A and made 81 appearances for the Italian national team. The 61-year-old won the World Cup with Italy in 1982 and lifted the Scudetto with the Nerazzurri in 1988-89.
Bergomi also gave his opinion on the Nerazzurri’s preparation for the Champions League, with his old side so narrowly missing out last season after another defeat in the final.
“I don’t know if they will be able to follow the same path they have followed in recent years,” Bergomi said, “Overall I think our teams can surprise us but it must be said that the level of competition in Europe is higher.”
