Speculation over Mohamed Salah’s future has been rife this season, but now the rumour mill is in overdrive.

The Egyptian King announced on Tuesday that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season after almost nine years at the club.

Although the 33-year-old is less than 12 months into the two-year deal he signed in Aril 2025, his time at Anfield will soon be over.

Several clubs were reportedly already following Salah’s situation, after a falling out with Arne Slot earlier in the season cast a shadow of doubt over his long-term future.

Now, interested parties are starting to accelerate efforts to sign the legendary winger, and a former Liverpool boss could play a huge part in deciding Salah’s future.

Former Liverpool manager key to Salah transfer

Well-reported links between Salah and the Saudi Pro League have existed for some time, with multiple Saudi clubs attempting to sign the Egyptian over the past few years.

According to ESPN, there are now two SPL teams leading the charge for Salah this summer.

Al-Ittihad, the club that had a ~£150 million bid rejected for the Egyptian in 2023, remain in the picture.

The second club mentioned in the report is Al-Quadsiah, who are currently managed by former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, and are the only other Saudi club believed to have the finances and ambition to rival Al-Ittihad.

Although Salah never played under Rodgers at Liverpool, the former Reds’ boss did try to sign the forward in 2014, before Salah completed a move to Chelsea.

Now, over a decade later, it looks as though Rodgers has a real chance to finally manage Salah.

Despite Al-Ittihad's status as the better-known club of the two, Al-Quadsiah are 18 points better off in the Saudi Pro League this campaign and a strong finish to the season could put them in pole position for Salah.
