Football often has a way of creating emotional storylines, and this one feels almost written in advance.
Merely six months after leaving Real Madrid, Lorenzo Aguado is set to face his former club in a competitive fixture, turning what would normally be a routine cup tie into a deeply personal occasion.
The 23-year-old right-back departed in July 2025, bringing an end to a long and meaningful chapter in his career.
Aguado joined Albacete shortly after, arriving as one of the club’s standout signings ahead of the new Segunda Division season.
Since then, he has wasted no time in establishing himself as a key figure, making 14 appearances across all competitions and proving his reliability and maturity on the right flank.
Fate added an interesting twist to the story when the round of 16 draw of the Copa del Rey paired Albacete with Real Madrid.
Speaking about this reunion, the former La Fabrica defender opened up about what the moment means to him on a personal level.
“It’s a very special game for me. Real Madrid gave me everything,” he said, according to AS.

“I joined when I was 7-8 and stayed there for 15 years. It’s a beautiful game, I’m very happy. It’s crazy.”
Continuing on the same theme, Aguado highlighted the personal connections that still exist between him and the current Real Madrid squad.
He pointed out that familiarity with some faces only adds to the emotion of the occasion, while also increasing the competitive edge.
“Last year I was lucky enough to be with them and there are players I was with in the youth team, like Gonzalo and Asencio, so I have good teammates there.
“It’s a challenge for us to show that we’re a great team, that we can be at the top and compete against the best.”
Beyond the personal story, Aguado also stressed the importance of the occasion for Albacete as a club and for their supporters.
“I think it’s also a very special game for them. I think that, ultimately, the team needs them. In the previous round, we all went together and we were lucky.
“I think that’s what we need – for them to come, to support us, to cheer us on, and for us all to pull together,” he concluded.
