Former Real Madrid star tips Barcelona as contenders to win Champions League | OneFootball

A one-time member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has revealed his take that Los Blancos’ arch rivals Barcelona should be considered amongst the favourites to emerge triumphant from this season’s Champions League.

The player in question? Toni Kroos.

Barcelona, of course, came within a whisker of a place in the Champions League final last season.

With mere minutes remaining in a semi-final tie with Inter Milan, the Blaugrana found themselves ahead on aggregate, facing up to a mouth-watering showpiece meeting with Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain.

At the death at San Siro, however, Inter struck back, before finishing the job in extra-time to send Hansi Flick and co. packing from Europe.

As alluded to above, though, one individual of the opinion that Barca have what it takes to go a step further this season is Toni Kroos.

Speaking on his personal podcast, Einfach mal Luppen, this week, Real Madrid icon Kroos responded as follows when asked about the favourites for the Champions League in 2025/26:

“Real Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool.”
