Former Real Madrid starlet Nico Paz has become one of the most sought-after prospects in Serie A following a breakthrough season under Cesc Fabregas.

The young attacking midfielder was involved in as many as 15 goals last season, playing a vital role in Como’s mid-table finish.

Paz’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with Inter Milan among the clubs determined to sign the youngster.

Even Real Madrid have been linked with a move for their former academy player. The club even have the option to re-sign the player through a cheap buyback option for the next few years. But the club have opted not to activate this clause this summer.

Nico Paz set to stay at Como

Real Madrid’s inaction led clubs such as Inter Milan to believe that they can strike a deal to sign Paz this summer.

However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Paz is not going anywhere this summer and is set to spend another season at Como.

This could serve as a major positive for Real Madrid as well as Como, who were determined to keep hold of the player for another season.

Paz’s prolonged stay at Como means Real Madrid will have the option to bring back the Argentine starlet next summer, for a fee of around €9 million. The price rises to €10 million in 2027.

Although Los Blancos opted not to make a move for Paz this summer, it was a prudent decision considering the fact that the club also roped in Franco Mastantuono.

Next summer, therefore, would be a more appropriate time for Real Madrid to assess the option of signing Paz.

Real Madrid will only hope that the youngster can continue his brilliant form in Serie A and produce yet another stellar campaign under Fabregas next season.
