A former member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week revealed his hopes of one day securing a return to the club.

The player in question? Vinícius Tobias.

Youngster Vinícius for his part spent two years plying his trade on the books of Real Madrid, between 2022 and 2024.

The Brazilian joined Los Blancos on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, and went on to play a prominent role for the club’s reserve outfit.

He also managed a solitary first-team appearance, in a Copa del Rey meeting with Arandina.

In the end, Real Madrid opted against making Vinícius’ signing permanent, with the 22-year-old not considered ready to make a consistent impact at senior level.

Over the course of the season to date, though, back on the books of Ukrainian heavyweights Shakhtar, the full-back has finally begun to fulfil his potential.

Across 36 appearances in all competitions, Vinícius has largely impressed on both sides of the ball, chipping in with two goals and three assists.

And such efforts, it would appear, come with a clear future objective in mind for the right-back.

Speaking during an interview with Marca this week, Vinícius opened up on his Real Madrid reunion hopes:

”I think Madrid was the best experience I’ve ever had. So, now that I know how things work, I think I have to work hard, play well in matches so that one day I can return to Madrid, or go to another big team.”
