Barcelona rising superstar Lamine Yamal didn’t require over two weeks into the new season to become the centre of attention of the media, with the outlets now speculating that he was the party Hansi Flick was targeting when he spoke about ‘egos’ in the team.

Ironically, however, the player has three assists in his first four games in the season. While reasonable doubt can be raised on his decision to go for goal at times, the fact remains that he is Barcelona’s biggest threat in the final third.

Over the past year, the youngster has firmly established himself as one of, if not the best player, in the world.

With the Ballon d’Or set to be given away later this month, there are not too many candidates placed better than him.

Javi Martinez backs Yamal

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, former Bayern Munich and Spain star Javi Martinez shared his opinion on Lamine Yamal and where he stands on the global scale.

The legend did not hesitate in giving his answer and calling the young teenager the best player in the world.

“Lamine is not only the best in Spain but in the world,” the former Spanish international said.

The ex-Athletic Club ace then went on to back the Barcelona star to lift the Ballon d’Or later this month and stated that he was the best player over the past season, even ahead of Ousmane Dembele.

“Sorry to PSG, for me, Lamine Yamal was the best last season,” he noted.

Finally, Martinez provided some valuable advice to Yamal and gave guidance on the path he should choose and the idol he should follow to reach greatness.

“He should focus on football and not get involved in the provocations of the fans, and do what Messi does.”
