RC Lens midfielder Salis Abdul Samed (25), who spent last season on loan at EFL Championship side Sunderland, is set to join OGC Nice, as per a report from RMC Sport.
Abdul Samed was one of the key figures in the Lens side that finished second under Franck Haise two seasons ago. However, the following season, he was used more sparingly and last season, he was on loan at Sunderland. The Ghana international contended with injuries during his time at the Stadium of Light. Those injuries limited him to just three league starts. Despite promotion to the Premier League, the midfielder was not retained.
However, upon his return to Lens, it was clear that he had no future at the club. He is now set for a move to Nice, where he will link up once again with Haise. Abdul Samed will sign a three-year deal, with Le Gym set to spend €2.5m on the midfielder. Lens will also earn a percentage of any future sale.
The news comes just hours after they missed out on Stade Brestois’ Mahdi Camara. Rennes hijacked that deal last minute, proposing a significantly bigger salary.
