Former Wolves striker Rafa Mir has been sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison for sexually assaulting two women in Spain.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, a lower court in Valencia ruled that Mir and another footballer assaulted the women at Mir's home in 2024.

The court imposed seven years for sexual assault and a further 18 months for causing physical harm. The co-defendant, identified in documents as Pablo J G and described as a lower division player, received two-and-a-half years.

Mir, 28, denied wrongdoing, saying the women consented. The court cited the victim's consistent and credible account, supported by witness evidence and forensic reports.

The victim was awarded compensation, and the ruling is not final and could be appealed.

Mir played for Elche in La Liga last season on loan from Sevilla, with that deal due to expire at the end of this month. He joined Wolves in 2018 and left in 2021 after three loans, making four appearances without scoring before moving to Sevilla.
