Fortuna Düsseldorf beat Borussia Dortmund in pre-season

3. Liga side Fortuna Düsseldorf secured a comeback victory against Borussia Dortmund in front of their home support on Saturday afternoon. Niko Kovac used 23 players as the Black and Yellows completed their second pre-season game before leaving for Japan.
US youth international Mathis Albert scored the only goal of the first-half after he controlled Alexander Meyer’s long ball with aplomb. The goalkeeper started as captain when Dortmund started their pre-season calendar with a 3-1 win over Oberhausen last week.
Serhou Guirassy wore the captain’s armband in the first-half here as 18-year-old Takato Yamamoto once again played in midfield. Luxembourg international Enzo Duarte suffered an injury at the stroke of half-time as Jobe Bellingham entered the scene a little earlier than expected.Düsseldorf, who will kickstart their competitive season against Waldhof Mannheim in the opening 3. Liga game of the season on August 7th, scored twice after the break with new signing Fabian Schleusener and 19-year-old former Moroccan international Anas Slimani.
Dortmund will fly to Japan tomorrow as they will play two friendly games there before they participate in the annual Emirates Cup. They will face FC Bayern in their competitive debut of the season in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup.
