Bafana Bafana bagged a vital 2-1 win over Angola in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group B opener on Monday night.
Pacy winger Oswin Appollis broke the deadlock in the 21st minute after a slick one-two with Lyle Foster inside the box.
The Palancas Negras drew level thanks to Show, who beat Ronwen Williams at his near post after latching onto a superb free kick in the 35th minute.
With both sides pushing for a winner, Burnley striker Foster curled a classy finish past Hugo Marques in the Angolan goal in the 79th minute—just moments after squandering a golden chance.
That result sees Hugo Broos' charges sitting at the summit of Group B, while Patrice Beaumelle’s men find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table.
Next up, Bafana face a stern test against record seven-time African champions Egypt on Friday, 26 December.
Meanwhile, the Pharaohs will get their campaign underway against Zimbabwe, aiming to seize control of the group.
