However, it is not only the most exceptional of young forwards who are considered generational talents. In fact, specifically at Barcelona, there is a certain player who arrived from Las Palmas four years ago and continues to embody the essence of what it means to be a Barcelona player and how the club loves to play.

That player would be Pedri, the 21-year-old Canary Islander, who made his debut for Barça on September 27, 2020, under Ronald Koeman by managing to impress the Dutch coach just enough to let him become a key player in his Barcelona team. Four years later, his importance within the club has only grown.

Now, as SPORT points out, there are perhaps even more reasons to believe that Pedri could be a player who defines an era at the club and there are specifically four reasons that have been highlighted that would ultimately back up this belief regarding the young midfielder.

1: His experience

While the youngster may only be 21 years old, he has a great amount of experience in his career already of playing at the highest level. Through his various injuries, club competitions, and even national tournaments, it would appear that Pedri’s vast diversity of experiences already makes him a sort of veteran amongst the youngsters.

2: His versatility

A player who is able to play in a multitude of different positions, whether it be in the frontlines, as an attacking midfielder, as an interior, or even as a deep-lying playmaker next to other defensive midfielders, Pedri has a great arsenal at his disposal when it comes to adapting to different positions as per the requirements of the coach.

3: His talent

Without a question, Pedri’s talent remains undeniable. From his first coach in Ronald Koeman to his latest manager in Hansi Flick and everyone in between, he has remained a crucial player for each coach. The only hindrance that he has faced have been his own injuries, and without them, there is no denying the importance he was given by each of his coaches.

4: His new coach

Hansi Flick, a man who is utterly devoted to the physical preparations of his players, has helped Pedri reestablish himself again. By focusing on his fitness and on his health extensively, the German coach is making sure to limit his minutes when possible and deploy him as much as possible simultaneously. As long as he keeps his star midfielder—whom he considers a ‘special‘ player—fit, this Barcelona team has the potential to reach new heights.
