A decisive victory for France and for the two Rossoneri, Maignan and Nkunku: a convincing 4-0 win over Ukraine secures their spot at the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Mike Maignan played the full 90 minutes and was hardly called into action, while Christopher Nkunku came on towards the end. Italy, led by Gattuso, enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Moldova, which almost guarantees a play-off spot for the Azzurri. Gabbia and Ricci stayed on the bench.

Portugal are beaten in a surprise turn of events, losing 2-0 in Dublin to Ireland, and the team now have to beat Armenia in the final game to secure direct qualification for the World Cup. Rafael Leão played the final half an hour.  Strahinja Pavlović played for the full 90 minutes in Serbia's defeat to England. It was ultimately a result that ended Serbia's hopes of reaching the World Cup next summer.
