Frédéric Guilbert has extended his contract with Nantes until June 2028, securing his future after joining in January following a spell out of favour at Lecce.
The player said in a social media post that he was honoured and very proud to continue with Nantes, thanking the club for helping him through one of the most difficult periods of his life.
The 31-year-old arrived on a free transfer in late January after terminating his deal at the Italian club, where he had been frozen out. He featured in eight Ligue 1 matches for the Canaris. Nantes have been relegated to Ligue 2.
His message underlined that he would not have overcome those months without the club’s support. He acknowledged that the team fell short of their survival target and accepted his share of responsibility.
Remaining at Nantes made sense to him, rooted in gratitude and conviction, with a clear aim of a swift return to Ligue 1.
