Soon-to-be free agent attacker Ivan Perišić has set his sights firmly on a move to La Liga champions Barcelona this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.
The name of wide-man Perišić has of course emerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.
This comes amid claims that Barcelona are considering a surprise move for the Croatian international.
Perišić is fresh off an impressive campaign on the books of PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, which saw the 36-year-old rack up 16 goals and 11 assists.
Held in high regard by Hansi Flick owing to the pair’s time together at Bayern Munich, Perišić, in turn, is considered a potentially low cost, high reward addition by Deco and the Camp Nou brass.
And if the latest word stemming from Spain on Friday is anything to go by, then the attacker, for his part, appears equally keen on a joining of forces with Barcelona.
As per a report from Sport:
‘According to Fabrizio Romano, the player had a two-year renewal offer from the Dutch club on the table and was ready to sign it. However, Barcelona’s interest has caused him to paralyze his decision while waiting for the club to make a move.’
It now remains to be seen if as much comes to fruition, with Barca, whilst interested, not considering Perišić a priority.
